General Zine Fest Questions
Where is this year’s Zine Fest?
This year’s Fest is February 15, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s going down at 3347 N. San Fernando Road, Los Angeles 90065 in the neighborhood of Glassell Park. The official location is called Homenetmen. Entry is down the driveway, in the back of the building. Homenetmen looks like this from the outside:
How much is admission to the Zine Fest?
We would not think of charging admission to this fine festival. The Zine Fest is a free, open-to-the-public, all-ages event. We’d prefer that you save your money for buying zines.
How can I get there by public transportation?
There are several buses you can take from the Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park Gold Line station; the walk to the bus stop and the ride to the venue will probably take about 15 minutes. The sidewalk at Treadwell is closed so you should get off at Fletcher and walk up San Fernando.
Another option is to take our free school bus shuttle direct from the Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park station to the Fest. Our yellow school bus leaves every half hour, transporting folks from the station to the event every 30 minutes starting at noon. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE people to take the train and take advantage of this since there is limited street parking and construction in the area. Do NOT park in the Metro lot!
Can I drink in there?
Lemonade, yes; booze, no.
Can I bring my dog?
Sadly, this year’s venue does NOT allow your furry friends. No one is sadder about this than us.
Are you wheelchair/stroller/SegWay-accessible?
With the exception of the SegWay, we are totally accessible.
Where can I lock up my bike?
We’re going to have bike valet in the parking lot behind the venue. Go down the driveway just north of the venue (between it and the police station) and you’ll be able to see the bike valet in the back. This FREE service will be operating from 11 am to 5 pm, so if you’re still hanging around after 5 pm, simply re-lock your bike elsewhere in that lot after the valet closes. All bikes must be collected by 7 pm.
Where can I park?
There is street parking around the venue. There shouldn’t be too many people parked on the streets on a Sunday, but please be sure to read signs carefully. See the map below for suggestions on which streets to look on for a spot (noted in green). Please DO NOT park in the lots of local businesses, even if they look closed.
If you park north of the venue (Rosslyn, Fierro, Vassar, Tyburn are all on the north), the crosswalk you’d use to cross to the venue is closed due to construction. You’ll have to hoof it down San Fernando to Fletcher, cross there, and then walk up San Fernando again to get to the venue. It might look far, but you probably walk further between bars on a weekend.
