Get to Know Your Zinester: Olivia Wilkins (Amazine Space)

Who: Olivia Wilkins (Amazine Space)

What would you like people to know about your zines?
My zines are all about science! I use zines to intersect my passion for science with my love of creating art. Whether it is through bringing an astronomically small coloring zine to life or bringing chemistry to your cooking, my zines are a way to actively learn about how the wider universe works!

Tell us about a zine maker or zine that has had an impact on you.
I’m a big fan of the stargazing guides from Astrobriles (Briley Lewis). Even though I am an astronomer, I don’t know much about where things are in the night sky. Briley’s mini-zines about what’s up at different parts of the year are a fun way for me to orient myself to the stars independent of my data!

What are you looking forward to at L.A. Zine Fest 2019?
I’m new to making zines, and the L.A. Zine Fest will be my first experience tabling. I can’t wait to learn from other zinesters and meet other people in the community. I’m eager to find some new sources of inspiration!

Make sure to check out Olivia Wilkins (Amazine Space)’s table at L.A. Zine Fest 2019 on Sunday, May 26th at Helms Bakery in Culver City!
