Get to Know Your Zinester: Briley Lewis (astrobriles)

Who: Briley Lewis

What would you like people to know about your zines?
My zines are about women in STEM and fun science (especially astronomy!).

Tell us about a zine maker or zine that has had an impact on you.
Emma Karin of Pretty Dirty Press (@prettydirtypress) – I talked to her at my first ever fest (NYC Feminist Zine Fest) last year, and her radical domesticity series was one of my first experiences with the magical feeling of just relating SO much to a work someone has made. That fest as a whole, too, is what really inspired me to get involved in making zines and sharing my experiences and ideas in this format.

What are you looking forward to at L.A. Zine Fest 2019?
I’m looking forward to meeting new zinesters — my favorite part of fests is always seeing all the other amazing work people have to share. I’m also excited to get to know the zine community here in SoCal better, since this is my home!

Make sure to check out Briley Lewis’s table at L.A. Zine Fest 2019 on Sunday, May 26th at Helms Bakery in Culver City!
