Who: hey soupface
What would you like people to know about your zines?
My comic zines are a cross between Gumby and Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. Which is to say that I’d describe them as surreal, funny, and sometimes melancholy. But don’t just take my word for it… See for yourself?
Tell us about a zine maker or zine that has had an impact on you.
One of the first zines I bought was called Conditions on the Ground by an artist named Kevin Hooyman. There’s something about his work that gets me excited about making things myself; I hope my art connects with people in a similar way.
What are you looking forward to at L.A. Zine Fest 2019?
I’m excited to meet the other exhibitors! When I’m tabling at events, I usually plant my caboose behind the table and never move from it once (not even for bathroom breaks!!), but not this time! This time I’m going to get out of my seat and actually move around for real (maybe even take a bathroom break)!
Make sure to check out hey soupface’s table at L.A. Zine Fest 2019 on Sunday, May 26th at Helms Bakery in Culver City!
