Who: Yeiry Guevara
Describe what your zines are about in two sentences or fewer.
Yeiry Guevara creates bilingual zines which explore memory, family and intergenerational healing through the lens of photography and poetry.
What would you like people to know about the zines you create?
As a first-generation Salvadoran, my work is based in healing and representation. This visibility is necessary due to the ancestral knowledge lost with migration. There is a profound need to own our narrative and document our history. I see my work as visible symbols of empowerment.
What’s the last zine you read that you really enjoyed?
I have a growing zine library! I gotta give a big shoutout to these amazing creators: St. Sucia, La Liga, The Bettys, Colectiva Cósmica, La Chamba Press, Vice Versa Press, GRL TRBL, Deadass Tho.NYC by Daisy Ruiz, Luna Rio by Margot Terc, Lil Shorties by Steph Guez, Ryan Francisco, Kat Fajardo and Jia Sung. They do incredible work!
