Get to Know Your Zinester: Adam Villacin

Describe your work in two sentences or less.

My zines are thematic collections of my illustrations depicting signifiers from subcultures that I find interesting. They are often accompanied by humorous words.

Where are your favorite places (in your neighborhood or online) to find new zines?

Secret Headquarters, Kingswell, the LACMA Store, Ooga Booga.

What are you working on for the Fest this year?
New topics- shitty optical illusions, unlikely band reunions, Bo Jackson, numismatics, Crass, jesters. Classics- the Dream Team, dead wrestlers, D&D STDs, aggressive inline skating, font shit.

How did you get involved in making zines?

It’s a very proletarian method of distribution, and at this point in my life, I want my art to find a large audience without having to murder anyone’s wallets.

What’s your favorite part of LA Zine Fest?

Speaking with other people who are passionate about the subjects I explore, learning more about those subjects from experts.
