Are you interested in organizing your own zine fest?


If we did it, you can too!  Your university, your hometown, your high school–you can have a fest anywhere and you probably should.  As daunting as the task may seem, we’re working on a way to pass on what we learned from putting together the first annual L.A. Zine Fest in a way that can be shared–most likely, a video.

What would you like to know about organizing an event like this? The floor is open to questions!

    1. We didn’t end up needing any permits except a seller’s permit because we wanted to sell our own zines and zines of friends who couldn’t be at the Fest at an Absentee Table. Because we required our vendors to get their own seller’s permits, we didn’t have to worry too much about paperwork.

      Seller’s permits vary according to county and city, so I recommend visiting your city’s Board Of Equalization website and poking around. L.A. has a feature on theirs where you can email a real human person with your personal question; I did so and laid it out for them and that’s how I got a definitive answer I could trust.
