Giulie Speziani & Rob Harrington
What was your first zine about and when was it made?
Giulie: “By the Slice” was made in the Summer of 2011.
Rob: “Clown Fight!,” my first (and so far only) comic book was finished in December 2011. (yep, hot off the press!)
Describe your most recent zine.
Giulie: My first and most recent zine is “By The Slice.” It’s a slice of life story about a girl working in a pizza place.
Rob: “Clown Fight!” is an epic, dialogue free, Tex Avery-esque, fight to the death…. between two clowns!
What do you do when you’re not creating and how does it help or harm what you do artistically?
Giulie: If I’m not creating, its almost always harmful. My Google Reader is my go-to vice. Browsing online articles can be seen as research but reading a Top Chef episode recap is a waste of time, especially if I’ve already seen the episode!
Rob: When I’m not creating, I try to enjoy what others are creating as often as possible. I’m pretty lucky in that my fiancee (a wonderful woman by the name of Giulie) is also a writer. I see what she’s working on and it inspires to work on my own comics. We’ll discuss our projects and the exchange of ideas and feedback we have is just as valuable to me as making the comics themselves.
