Even though we’re the L.A. Zinefest, we fully embrace all of our environs, including the sprawling desert-lands of the Inland Empire. There’s a lot of amazing work coming out of the I.E–especially around the university in Riverside–and Ladyfest is proof that things are going on that are worth a train ride out to Riverside. Our good friend Marna of Viva Vox Press is leading a zine-making workshop that we’re really excited about. Go say hello–she’s really nice!
If you can’t make it out to the Fest, you should check out ZineWorks, a Southern California collective that promotes zines and zinemaking. They’re the ones responsible for “Dongtown” (above), which looks right up our alley.
You should also check out Riverside-based zine distro and publisher Double Fur Press. I know them from the hilarious compilation zines they put out. I especially enjoyed their zine “Sorry Officer, please don’t tell my mom!”
