FAQ

Have a question? Here are some answers.

Can I still get a table for 2014?

Sorry, but we’re all sold out! Applications go up 3-4 months before the Fest, depending on when we secure a venue. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr for the latest scoop, or sign up for our newsletter! And of course, you can always find out when the application will be posted by checking this very website.

Well, if I can’t table then how can I be a part of Zine Fest?

Having a table isn’t the only way to share your work at the event. We want the Fest to provide opportunities for zine trades, connections, future collaborations and a celebration of the entire zine community, including you.

Bring your zines to trade at the Fest! Often times, the most valuable and enjoyable part of Zine Fest is connecting with other tablers, so walking around with your work in hand is encouraged. We will also have a zine library with an open invitation to donate your zines, which will later become a part of our traveling zine library that we take to workshops and events.

You can also volunteer! While we don’t give tabling preference to volunteers, helping out at the Fest will help to keep you in the loop of future application date announcements. The majority of our volunteers also make zines and it’s a great way to connect and collaborate with the larger zine community.

I already have a table. How big is it? Will I get assigned a table?

A full table is your standard 6 feet by 2.5 feet rectangular folding table. If you have a half table, you’ll be sharing 3 feet x 2.5 feet of a full table with another tabler. You will be emailed a vendor packet with your table assignment and other important info before Zine Fest, so keep an eye on your inbox!

I don’t want to table, I just wanna see some zines and see some cool panels! Is Zine Fest free to attend?

Yes, it is! However, there is a suggested donation of $1-5 . This an entirely volunteer-run event, with only 4 full-time organizers who put LA Zine Fest with no financial compensation. Every donation goes back into funding next year’s LA Zine Fest to support our zine and DIY publishing communities.

What’s LA Zine Week? What’s going on the day of LA Zine Fest?

LA Zine Week is a week long series of independently organized DIY and zine related events, culminating on Sunday, February 16th, with LA Zine Fest itself! For more info about LA Zine Week and all of the rad events, check out the LA Zine Week website.

Check out our Panels & Workshops tab above or our Facebook event page for details about what’s going on the day of LA Zine Fest 2014.

How should I get there? Will there be parking?

We really encourage you to Go Metro and take the new Expo Line to Helms Bakery. It’s just a short walk from the venue, and if you show us your valid ticket or TAP card at the info table, you’ll get a free zine (while supplies last). For more info, check out the How to Get There tab above.

For those of you have to drive, the city of Culver City has asked that there be no event parking on residential streets. Parking on main ones like Washington or Venice is perfectly fine, and there are free lots on Venice specifically for the Helms Bakery.

**Don’t forget: Jamzilla is the same weekend as LA Zine Fest, closing two lanes of traffic on the 405 from Getty Center Dr. north to Ventura Blvd. **

Will there be food sold at Zine Fest?

No, there won’t be, but there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, as well as a Trader Joe’s! Or bring some snacks!
